Es un teclado de origen Americano, contemporáneo de sus contrapartes Japoneses los Roland Fantom X  Yamaha Motif ES y la primera serie de Korg M3. Mi opinión personal respecto de este teclado es la siguiente: Como Workstation dedicado a la producción tiene todas las funciones y parámetros necesarios para completar su producción musical de principio a fin. Tanto este Workstation como el Korg M3 original tuvieron críticas debido a  inconvenientes presentados de algunas de sus funciones de las versiones originales; Korg le toco sacar la nueva versión expanded  para poder actualizar su sistema operativo de acuerdo a los problemas presentados de los usuarios y renovar algunas de sus librerías. Alesis fue diferente, su sistema operativo fue renovado sobre el mismo hardware con la última  versión 1.24  añadiendo además  una gran  extensa librería de samples, programas y mezclas denominada  ? Hollow Sun?. Para los que  reclaman el sonido de Piano como su fundamento de composición, podemos decir que aún los más modernos sampleadores Korg Kronos Yamaha XF o Roland Jupier 80 Supernatural no satisfacen los oídos medianamente educados, por tal motivo debemos conformarnos con los samples  que traen o tener una librería especial de un tercero; para el caso del Alesis  puede ser esta opción debido a que tiene un disco duro interno de 80 Gigas o memoria Flash externa que las hay  de varias capacidades en el mercado local  para cargar librerías pesadas a la ? Lata?.  Alesis viene con varios presets comparables a los  del Korg M3 expanded, algunos de los vientos o cobres como los denominan en nuestro medio me parece que están un poco por debajo de los del Motif ES, se puede ayudar a mejorar con la variedad de filtros que trae y empujar la resonancia con los editados con la síntesis de modelado físico combinándolos  en el Modo MIX  ,  Las cuerdas no desmerecen cumplen  bien su función básica, posee una extensa gama de Kits de percusión algunas de ellos derivados del Famosa Caja de ritmos R-16, algunos muy buenos y para toda clase de música. Una gran ventaja de este Alesis es  que viene equipado con cuatro clases de Síntesis:   Analógica, Samples, FM y Modelado Físico,  todo un arsenal  para el cacharreo  musical sus contemporáneos japoneses solo traen una opción, Para modular tanto sonidos como programas cuenta con un buen número de LFOs puede programar hasta Seis igual número de curvas editables, sus contrapartes japoneses están limitados por lo general a  dos. El Motif ES tiene la Síntesis FM como opción mediante tarjetas que hay que comprar. Con paciencia se pueden emular a base a arpegios y percusión la función Karma de los  Korg actuales, trae gran cantidad de patrones de ritmos basados en estos,  otra ventaja contra sus pares japoneses es la variedad de filtros y efectos, de todo lo que he probado es el único capaz de emular casi a la perfección algunos de los sintetizadores análogos antiguos como los Remi, Moog, Eminent entre otros.,  La curva de aprendizaje igualmente está por encima de los otros es intuitiva y más clara, deberá si acostumbrarse en un principio a que este no cuenta con el tradicional cursor de arriba abajo derecha izquierda, pero apenas se familiariza con su navegación  a través de los parámetros en la pantalla es  intuitiva y  práctica, la pantalla de solo dos colores es muy fácil de leer aún a contraluz, no tiene que meter las narices para hacer una lectura como los Yamaha Motifs de última generación, tiene una desventaja respecto a los otros en cuanto al uso de las teclas numéricas no se pueden destinar a ingresar datos para cambiar los parámetros, lo cual hay que hacerlo mediante el dial, funcionan las teclas en cada octava para este propósito, La salida del audio principal a un mezclador o parlantes amplificados considero que sale a un nivel bajo respecto a los demás, por lo cual hay que darle vuelta al dial de volumen ¼ o un poco  más que los otros. Cuenta entre las ayudas un conversor software de samples de los formatos Wav, Akai, Aiff y Sound Fonts trabaja muy bien con El Windows XP, se nota la falta de un editor software para la edición de programas y MIXES externa al teclado,  es bien construido como los Roland, por tanto un poquitín pesado. Dicen que la pinta es lo de menos, los Roland últimos son las bonitas del paseo, este prendido con todas sus lucecitas encendidas es agradable para trabajar y aún en penumbra se pueden identificar todas las teclas y los parámetros en la pantalla.
